Tom White started at Long Beach Heating and Air Conditioning on the ground floor. Although he started working for the company in 1978, by 1988 White had worked hard, learned the business and climbed the rungs from installer to owner.
In the last eighteen years since he acquired the company, he's learned that two essential elements to a successful business are professionalism and an open line of communication between himself and his customers.
Long Beach Heating and Air Conditioning provides sales, service and installation of heating and air conditioning systems, as well as providing duct-cleaning services. They are the area's oldest residential contractor.
White and his other field employees are always easily recognizable in their clean, company-logo uniforms. It's a personal touch that a less seasoned company might overlook, but to White, the little things add up.
"Service is a big deal to us," he says. White tells his employees, "You have to treat each home like it's a million-dollar home." His commitment to his customers, coupled with a well-trained, competent, friendly staff, has added up to thousands of satisfied customers over the years.
"We are a company that is big enough to take care of your needs but small enough to give you personalized service," says White. The company feels so strongly about these words, they have adopted them as their motto.
Long Beach Heating and Air has 12 employees, relatively large for their type of business, but White is proud of the fact that their company has remained small enough that he is still able to keep direct contact with his customers.
To help their clients better understand their options, their pricing structure illustrates the differences between the different grades of systems. White says, "[We show them] a good system, a better one, and then the best." In this way, customers are well prepared to make a decision about what system will best suit their needs and limitations.
The company also offers "six-months same-as-cash" financing for those who don't want to wait until the hot summer months have come and gone before having their air conditioners installed.
