Winter is over. The long awaited season is here: spring-cleaning. It's time to clear out the closet, send the dust bunnies off to hairball heaven and let the April sun sparkle through freshly washed windows.

To help make this year's clean up a little easier, Joe Wilson of Ultrasonic Blind Cleaning and Draperies has a convenient solution for the pesky task of cleaning blinds.

Ultrasonic's services include cleaning, repairs, sales and installation. Their mobile service utilizes state of the art ultrasonic technology and environmentally safe, nontoxic biodegradable soap. Most cleaning takes place in Ultrasonic's customized service truck. Blinds are immersed in a nontoxic cleaning solution and powerful sound waves are used to agitate them. According to Wilson, the process is similar to the way jewelry is cleaned, but on a much larger scale.

The blinds are then treated in a final rinse using a water-soluble sheeting agent that dries the slats, cords and head-rail without leaving water spots. The rinse pulls static electricity out of the blinds, thus slowing future dust buildup.

"We can clean just about anything," says Wilson. In addition to the popular mini blinds, Ultrasonic can wash wood blinds, verticals, silhouettes, honeycomb, pleated shades, duettes, luminettes and a variety of lined and unlined draperies. They even clean parabolic lenses (light fixture covers).

Although they specialize in cleaning, Ultrasonic also does repairs and replacements. They carry a full line of window treatments. "Cleaning, repairs, sales, installation," says Wilson, "we do it all with one phone call."

Since blinds are cleaned and repaired on-site, they can be down, washed and up again in just a few hours. Draperies are back in about a week and custom ordered blinds take about ten days.

Fresh blinds or draperies can do wonders to brighten up a room. However, anyone who has ever tried to clean them by hand can appreciate the convenience of Ultrasonic's services.
