Victor's Fine Gifts is Reorn
By Ofelia Saenz, Signal Tribune staff writer

The laws of physics say that energy is neither created nor destroyed; it just changes form.

Those mourning the loss of Victor's Fine Gifts earlier this month will be happy to learn that the spirit of the store that kept Bixby Knolls tables dressed in class for the last fifty-six years will continue through the efforts of Christine Hart and her new business venture, Victor's Gifts II.

Part personal shopper, part social event, Victor's Gifts II will take place several times a year in various locations. The premier event will be held (where else?) in the old Victor's storefront location on Atlantic Avenue.

Hosted by Hart, with a special appearance by retired Victor's owner, Joe LaRosa, Victor's Gifts II will be showcasing some decorating and gift ideas for Easter. Catalogs will be on hand as well as some stock, including the seasonal Bearington Bunnies.

Hart, who had been the head buyer and manager at the former Victor's Fine Gifts for twenty-four years, brings with her the legacy of personalized customer service that Victor's was famous for.

Hart's efforts are backed with the blessing of her former employer. "I have every confidence that Chris will be of great service to anyone who wishes to take advantage of [these shopping events]," says LaRosa. He notes that Hart's experience and diligence were an asset to Victor's Fine Gifts and will continue to be an asset to Victor's Gifts II. "She is in effect offering her services as a personal shopper," says LaRosa.

Anyone familiar with the old Victor's probably remembers what an integral part personal friendly service played in the relationship they held with their customers. Hart sees Victor's Gift's II as a way of reconnecting with patrons on a periodic basis while continuing to provide them access to the quality merchandise they came to expect from Victor's Fine Gifts.

"I really want to carry on Joe LaRosa's business philosophy-do whatever we can to make each customer's experience a pleasant one," says Hart. "If they don't buy this time, hopefully they'll remember us in the future."

The first gathering of Victor's Gifts II will take place Thursday and Friday, April 6 and 7, from noon to 5:30 p.m., at 3918 Atlantic Avenue (in the former Victor's Fine Gifts location).
